Primitive Prop Sprint
Make a recognisable prop from basic primitives, then improve its silhouette before adding small detail.
What learners need
- Blender or another basic 3D modeller
- One clear prop reference per learner
- Cubes, cylinders, spheres and simple transforms
Instructions
- Choose a prop that can be recognised from its main masses: lamp, drill, chair, bin, camera or similar.
- Block the largest three to five shapes without tiny details or materials.
- View it as a dark silhouette from the intended camera angle.
- Ask a partner to name the object and point to the least convincing proportion.
- Make one proportion change, then add only the detail that most improves recognition.
Adapt it by level
Recognition from transformed primitives is the complete task; avoid edit-mode complexity.
Use a reference and require deliberate proportion plus a clean object hierarchy or naming scheme.
Set an intended camera distance and ask learners to spend geometry where it changes the silhouette.
Require a short justification of construction choices against editability and real-time use.
